Haldon House Transforms a 1920s Home: A Perfect Blend of Historic Charm and Modern Living
When designers Autumn Oser and Andre Golsorkhi of Haldon House set their sights on a 1925 Georgian mansion in the heart of Philadelphia, their mission was clear: honor the home’s architectural legacy while reimagining it for a young family’s modern lifestyle. The result is a thoughtful and sophisticated renovation that seamlessly bridges past and present.

Honoring History with Modern Functionality
One of the most striking elements of this project is the thoughtful reconfiguration of spaces. The design team relocated the kitchen to the former dining room, allowing a breathtaking plaster ceiling mural to take center stage and influence the palette and detailing throughout the space.
Historic details such as original fireplaces, intricate moldings, and a marble staircase were meticulously preserved, celebrating the craftsmanship of the home’s early 20th-century origins. These heritage elements now coexist harmoniously with modern upgrades and family-friendly functionality.
Bespoke Details & Artistic Touches
Every inch of the home reflects a meticulous attention to detail. A custom island by Goebel Cabinetry serves as the heart of the kitchen, balancing utility and elegance, while curated contemporary artwork adds personality and warmth. This combination of historic character and modern refinement creates a space that feels both timeless and livable.
A Culinary Showpiece
The kitchen’s centerpiece is the ILVE Nostalgie Dual Fuel Range in a striking Graphite Matte finish with Burnished Brass trim. Handcrafted in Italy, this professional-grade range adds European elegance and high-performance cooking capabilities, perfectly complementing the historic-meets-modern design ethos.
Design That Tells a Story
This project is a masterclass in balance, proof that preservation and innovation can coexist beautifully. By honoring the home’s history while embracing contemporary living, Haldon House has crafted a space that feels warm, personal, and built to last for generations.
Would you rather restore a historic home to its original glory or reinterpret it for the next century? This Philadelphia masterpiece proves you don’t have to choose; you can have both.
