Overview
ILVE Panoramagic ovens are designed with large-capacity cavities and advanced convection systems that circulate heat evenly throughout the oven.
Because of this design, heat is distributed more aggressively and efficiently than in standard ovens. This can sometimes be perceived as overheating, especially when using convection modes.
However, true overheating—where the oven exceeds the set temperature or consistently burns food under normal conditions—is not normal and should be evaluated.
In most cases, overheating complaints are related to airflow, load distribution, or convection intensity rather than component failure.
Common Causes
If the oven display and controls operate normally but the oven does not heat, the issue is typically related to one of the following:
- Convection mode intensifying heat
- Temperature not adjusted for fan cooking
- Airflow concentrating heat in certain areas
- Overloaded or improperly arranged oven cavity
- Improper rack positioning
- Opening door during cooking (heat imbalance)
- Temperature sensor variance
- Control or regulation issue
Operational Note
Panoramagic ovens use advanced electronic controls and convection systems for precise temperature regulation. Because of this, cooking may be faster and more efficient, and slight temperature or setting adjustments may be required.
However, the oven should still regulate temperature accurately and should not consistently overheat or burn food.
Repeated overheating is not normal and should be addressed.
Troubleshooting Tip
Review the troubleshooting chart on the following page before contacting service.| Possible Cause | What To Do |
|---|---|
| Oven hotter than expected due to convection airflow intensifying heat | Reduce temperature by 25°F. |
| Food cooking too fast due to large cavity and efficient airflow | Adjust cook time or temperature. |
| Uneven or excessive heat due to airflow obstruction | Reposition racks and items. |
| Food burning in certain zones due to improper rack or load placement | Adjust positioning. |
| Oven exceeds set temperature due to sensor or control issue | Reset and monitor. |
| Oven continuously heats due to regulation issue | Service required. |
Step 1: Confirm cooking mode
Panoramagic ovens use convection systems that circulate heat more efficiently than traditional ovens.
Convection / Fan Mode: Faster, more even heat distribution
Static Mode: More traditional heating
Action:
- If using convection, reduce tempearture by 25°F (15°C)
- Test at 350°F (175°C)
Note:
- Convection cooking may result in faster cooking and higher perceived heat. Refer to the ILVE Oven Functions Guide for Majestic.
Step 2: Evaluate oven load & airflow
Proper airflow is required for consistent temperature regulation. Restricted airflow can cause heat buildup and uneven cooking.
Check for:
- Overcrowded oven
- Large trays blocking vents or fan
- Items placed too close together
- Drip pans left inside unnecessarily
Action:
- Reduce oven load
- Space items evenly
- Keep airflow paths clear
Step 3: Verify rack position
Rack placement affects heat distribution within the oven.
- Top → more radiant heat
- Bottom → stronger base heat
- Center → most balanced
Action:
- Use the center rack for most cooking
- Adjust based on browning results
Step 4: Allow full preheat
Proper preheat is required to stabilize oven temperature. Placing food too early can result in uneven heat and more aggressive cooking.
Action:
- Allow full preheat before inserting food
- Avoid opening the door during preheat
Step 5: Reset the oven
Resetting can clear temporary faults related to sensors or control systems.
Instructions:
- Turn OFF circuit breaker
- Wait at least 2 minutes
- Turn breaker back ON
Test again under normal conditions.
Step 6: Identify oven behavior
| Situation | Issue | Possible Causes |
|---|---|---|
| A | Oven cooks faster but consistently | Convection efficiency (normal behavior) |
| B | Food burns in specific areas | Airflow restriction or improper rack placement |
| C | Oven exceeds set temperature consistently | Sensor or control issue |
| D | Oven does not cycle heat properly | Regulation issue |
Step 7: Check airflow & ventilation
Restricted airflow can affect temperature balance and cause uneven or excessive heat.
Check for:
- Blocked vents
- Poor internal airflow
- Installation limiting ventilation
Action:
- Remove unnecessary items
- Maintain proper spacing inside the oven
Step 7: Gas vs electric considerations
| Gas Oven Cavities | Electric / Dual-Fuel Oven Cavities |
|---|---|
|
Heat may feel stronger near the base, and the flame will cycle to regulate temperature. If the flame remains constant or does not cycle: → Possible ignition or control issue |
Heating elements cycle on and off to maintain temperature. If the elements remain on continuously: → Thermostat or control issue |
When to contact service
If the oven does not heat after completing these steps, the problem may involve:
- Temperature sensor failure
- Control board malfunction
- Regulation issue
- Airflow system imbalance
These components require inspection by a qualified service technician.
