Burners Clicking Constantly – Panoramagic

Overview

ILVE Panoramagic ranges use an electronic ignition system that produces a clicking sound when activating the burners. This system is designed to ignite the gas safely and efficiently during startup.

During normal operation, clicking occurs only while the burner is being ignited and should stop once the flame is established. The ignition system is activated when the control knob is turned to the ignition position.

If the clicking continues after the burner is lit, this typically indicates that the ignition system is still attempting to spark because it is not detecting a stable flame condition.

In most cases, continuous clicking is caused by moisture, cleaning residue, or burner misalignment rather than a component failure.

Common Causes

If burners are clicking constantly, the issue is typically related to:

  • Moisture in burner or ignition components
  • Burner cap or flame divider misaligned
  • Food debris around igniter
  • Knob stuck in ignition position
  • Electrical ignition switch sticking
  • Recent cleaning or spillover

Operational Note

Panoramagic burners use a continuous spark ignition system during startup.

  • Clicking is normal during ignition only
  • Clicking should stop once the flame is stable
  • Continuous clicking usually indicates the system is still detecting a need to ignite

This is most commonly caused by moisture or misalignment, not a failure.

Troubleshooting Tip

Review the troubleshooting chart on the following page before contacting service.
Possible Cause What To Do
Knob not held long enough Hold knob 3–5 seconds
Burner parts misaligned Reposition burner components
No clicking sound Check power supply
Clicking but no flame Check gas supply
Weak ignition Clean burner ports
Moisture present Allow burner to dry

Step 1: Confirm proper burner operation

Steps:

  • Press and turn knob to ignition position
  • Hold knob for 3-5 seconds
  • Observe ignition

Result interpretation:

  • Clicking stops → Normal operation
  • Clicking continues → Continue diagnosis

Step 2: Check for moisture

Steps:

  • Determine if cooktop was recently cleaned
  • Inspect for water or condensation around igniter

Action:

  • Allow burners to fully dry
  • Retry ignition

Important:

  • Moisture can cause continuous sparking even when flame is present.

Step 3: Inspect burner alignment

Steps:

  • Remove grates and burner caps
  • Check alignment of burner components

Action:

  • Ensure burner sits flat and centered

Reference:

  • Improper alignment can interfere with ignition sensing

Step 4: Check ignition area

Steps:

  • Inspect igniter and surrounding area
  • Remove grease or debris

Result interpretation:

  • Clean gently with non-abrasive material

Step 5: Check control knob position

Steps:
  • Turn burner off completely
  • Restart ignition
Result interpretation:
  • Clicking stops after reset → Knob issue
  • Clicking continues → Continue
Description

Step 6: Reset the oven

Steps:

  • Turn OFF the circuit breaker
  • Wait at least 2 minutes
  • Turn the breaker back ON
  • Test the oven at 350°F (175°C) using Convection / Fan mode

Step 7: Observe temperature behavior

SituationIssuePossible Causes
AClicking stops after dryingMoisture issue
BClicking stops after cleaningDebris issue
CClicking on one burner onlyLocal issue
DClicking on all burnersElectrical issue
EClicking continues constantlyPossible ignition switch issue

Step 8: Identify unsafe conditions

Steps:

  • Clicking continues with flame present
  • Clicking occurs with burner off
  • Multiple burners clicking simultaneously
  • No response to cleaning or drying

If any of these occur:

  • Turn OFF appliance
  • Do NOT continue use
  • Contact service

When to contact service

Service is required if:

  • Clicking continues after all cleaning and drying steps
  • Ignition system activates without user input
  • Multiple burners are affected consistently

Possible causes include:

  • Faulty igniter
  • Electrical supply issue
  • Ignition module failure

These components require inspection by a qualified service technician.
