The warmth of the North

The atmosphere is that of a northern European home, surrounded by nature, woods and lakes acting as quiet and charming neighbours. Everything is played on muted and warm tones, from natural materials such as marble, stone and wood, to furniture and appliances. The carvings on the wooden cladding panels of devices and wall units compose an overlay of signs that may be reminiscent of the axiality of Mies van der Rohe’s plans: the most significant example is undoubtedly the Barcelona Pavilion, one of the architect’s most important and evocative works.

The brise-soleils or sunshades are reminiscent of some portions of the façade of Alvar Alto’s Villa Mairea: designed for a couple, with no budget constraints, the villa represents the Nordic version of organic architecture, in which the balance of built environment and natural environment is achieved through the integration of man-made and natural elements that become part of a single interconnected architectural organism/space.

Among the elements defined as artificial are Ilve appliances, viewed as components of the decor as well as fundamental tools for high level cuisine. The choice of the Nostalgie collection goes precisely in this direction, thanks to its recognisable and refined style that manages to combine traditional shapes and modern design. In this bright and airy kitchen in which light tones and the warmth of wood prevail, the wall-mounted extractor hood and built-in electric oven are well integrated: completely white the former and white with brass finishes the latter.

In addition to the elegant aesthetics, the distinctive feature of these appliances is above all their performance: the 90 cm oven with its 4.3 inch TFT screen guarantees perfectly even cooking thanks to electronic temperature control up to 320° C, while the AG model hood is fitted with the latest air extraction and purification technology, which is essential when the same room is used as kitchen and living room. The 90 cm built-in gas hob has 5 burners and a fry top plate for cooking meat, fish and vegetables at high temperatures without using oil or fat.

An open space in which light and shadow play with the architecture and materials, creating a relaxed atmosphere and a cosy ambiance in which each element takes centre stage, while being part of a whole that gives it its meaning.
